Building our Community: MAEDC Staff Participates on Habitat for Humanity Build

It's true - we gave Eric and Chella power tools on Friday the 13th!

As a team and community building event, the staff of the Missoula Area Economic
Development Corporation braved the July heat and raised our hammers to assist on
the build sites of two homes being built by Habitat for Humanity this season.

Habitat for Humanity has been an established organization in Missoula since 1991, and
has since built 30 homes in our community for low to moderate income
families.  Partner families buy these homes from Habitat at cost, making the goal of
home ownership more acheivable for single parent and low income families.  Habitat
homes are built to the highest standard of energy efficiency, and were featured on this
year's Sustainability Tour.

While Chella wrangled baffels, the guys multi-tasked with
support beams.  Team LAGAD (Loan and Grant Administration Department, i.e. Eric
and Jessica)  measured twice  and cut once, mapping holes for ventilation and duct
work.  Local businesses chipped in for lunch and refreshments, including Starbucks
 coffee and Subway sandwiches.

All staff members completed the day with as many fingers as they began with;  it was a
very positive and worth while experience.
